It is a companion document to the 2012 Safe abortion: Technical policy guidance for health system and is oriented to providers. It outlines numerous clinical aspects of abortion care including:

• 1st and 2nd trimester abortion
• post abortion contraception
• pain management
• infection prevention
• managing complications
