United Nations adopts the 2030 agenda for sustainable development

The 17 sustainable development global goals that will provide the framework for the world’s development over the next 15 years were ratified by UN member states in New York on Friday, September 25th. The agenda aiming to tackle inequality for all people in all countries as well as poverty and climate change was endorsed by 193 countries at the start of a three-day UN summit on sustainable development. Speeches by 24 civil society representatives were delivered throughout the summit, they were identified through an open, transparent and participatory proces (for the full list click here). Pope Francis and the Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzaithe spoke on the ambitious agenda – which aims to tackle poverty, climate change and inequality for all people in all countries.
