The vote on the Edite Estrela report on SRHR which was expected to take place on 22 October did not take place. Authored by Edite Estrela MEP (S&D, Portugal), the report calls for universal access to sexual and reproductive health and rights throughout Europe. This includes safe and legal abortion services, comprehensive sexuality education, and the prevention and treatment of sexually-transmitted diseases. The anti-choice campaigners and right-wing groups in Parliament successfully managed to postpone this vote and forced it to be pushed back to the FEMM Committee. MEPs voted on a motion to send the report back to the Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality, backed by right-wing groups (351 in favour, 319 against, see voting record).
